The City of Seville celebrates this year 2018 the 4th. Centenary of the Birth of the Great Baroque Painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo.
Murillo and Seville are strongly linked. During 2018 it will be held in Seville different exhibitions in several emblematic spaces of the city related to the great Sevillian painter.
There will also be activities, confernces and workshops around Murillo and Seville.
We will have the opportunity to admire different works of this magnificent Sevillian master that, for various reasons, are exhibited in museums all over the world.
Perhaps the most emblematic of them all is “The Jubilee of the Porciuncula”, wich after two centuries returns to the city of Seville. In the Fine Arts Museum, during this year we can see the complete collection that Murillo painted for the Church of the Convent of the Capuchins of Seville. This masterpiece was in the main altar. The City Council of Seville has created a tourist route that connects the different exhibition spaces ralated to the legacy of Murillo and Seville. In the Santa Cruz Quarter, in Murillo´s House you can get all the information about the celebration of the Year of Murillo.
Space Santa Clara, Cathedral of Seville, Charity Hospital,Venerables Hospital, Palace of “Las Dueñas” , Pontius Pilate House give us the opportunity to know the life and works of Murillo.
