The libretto in italian by Cesare Sterbini was based on Pierre Beaumarchais´s French comedy “Le Barbier de Séville”, the music by Giaochino Rossini. Even though the premiére was a disastrous failure, today is one of the most represented operas ever, and also one of the most popular among the public.The city of Seville, as in many other operas, is the backdrop where the plot takes place.
